Congratulations to Dr. Catherine Larochelle and her entire research team for her publication Identification of SARS-CoV-2-specific immune alternations in acutely ill patients, Rébillard et al., The Journal of Clinical Investigation (2021; 131(8) :e145853) which was selected for one of two research awards by the Fédération des médecins spécialistes du Québec (FMSQ). These awards will be presented at the 15ième édition des Journées de formation interdisciplinaire on November 18-19, 2022 at the Montreal Palais des congrès.
Using BQC19 data, the researchers have shown that a group of alterations to the immune system is specifically linked to the SARS-CoV-2 infection and to COVID-19 severity. These findings could be used to identify patients who are most at risk of developing severe forms of the disease and could lead to new therapeutic approaches to COVID-19.
